What is Storytelling Education?

Storytelling education aims to help individuals express their cognitive and social skills, as well as their emotions and thoughts. It is also referred to as storytelling or storytelling training in various sources.

Storytelling Education is a therapeutic method for individuals and children, enriched with both cognitive and experiential approaches.

Everyone is familiar with stories. In fact, everyone has been living in a story since childhood. From a very young age, children start to make sense of their experiences and recognize value judgments such as good and bad through stories and fairy tales. All children add one or more features to the characters they create through the stories they build. It is especially common to witness small children describing something that doesn't exist as if it does. This behavior is driven not by a desire to lie, but rather by the instinct to narrate a story.

Children may use stories, fairy tales, and fables to address situations they cannot express directly or understand. These behaviors are considered a form of “projection” and interpreting them is a complex process. Only a well-trained Storytelling instructor and Fairy Tale therapist can do this. A Storytelling practitioner can:

  • Get close to the child’s inner world,
  • Decode the sequence of symbols given,
  • Master the basic elements of fairy tales in the context of Jungian archetypes,
  • Use this data to play an active role in diagnosing and solving problems for the child.

Fairy tale therapy is a popular and effective approach often chosen by families. If you are looking to learn how a process can unfold in a way that the child enjoys, you are in the right place. Through MONS Academy, you can learn the basics of fairy tale therapy, explore its steps, and evaluate the clues presented in the story.
